"I am BOATMAN"

My class was unable to go on its oceanographic cruise due to the unavailability of the university reasearch vessel. This weekend we did a beach survey which went well, however, subsequent labs are to rely upon plankton caught in the otter trawl towed from the boat. I was, therefore, asked to swim out between the beach and the bar towing the otter trawl behind me.

Not that I minded but I wasn't dressed for it. Still it was cool to actually go to the beach and swim during class. I was most astounded at these 22 oceanography majors of whom all but 3 were absolutely unwilling to get wet and seemed quite dismayed by the existance of the beach sand.

WTF!!?? Are they unfamilliar with the concept of "OCEANography"......wusses.

Oh well, I caught lots o' krill, got sunburned and was home much earlier than I'd expected. To me the idea of going into the ocean while in class is a feature not a bug.....mabey they need to reassses their goals. :)
