....and the lack of US refining capacity( much of which just got blown away).

Here is an intriguing proposal from a few months back. All those bases that are being closed, build refineries there. Of course these would be MILLITARY assets run by civillian contractors. The oil could of course be sold off base if not needed bythe military.

This sounds like a win-win for everyone but the frothing NIMBY crowd (most of these bases are big enough to conceal the ugly refineries from the eyes of sensitive Bobos).

Put this into the "AGREE WITH GEORGE" list.

I wonder if this could be used to do an endrun around the NRC and get lots of nuke plants run by civillian contractors (allowed of course to sell surplus power to the utillities) up and running much faster than otherwise would be possible.

Write your congresscritter as soon as the Gulf Coast stabilizes.
