Katrina: More Bloggage

Wretchard the Cat has 4 long and well tought out posts on Katrina here, here, here and here.

One of the biggest failings of this catastrophy was the inability to get people out of the staging areas in the vicinity of the superdome and convention center. The failure to use the schoolbuses that would seem to be the obvious choice has been covered elsewhere and seems unconcionable with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight and little knowledge of the possible issues involved (there could be a bus-drivers union for instance) but this story is EFFING DAMNABLE.

You have a convoy of citizens with boats and vehicles coming to save people and the GAME WARDENS TURN THEM AROUND!!!

500 boats ....be conservative.....say they are johnboats with max safe loads of 6 people apiece, THATS 3000 people A TRIP that could have been brought out.

I want that ranger covered in barbecue sauce and staked to a fireant hill.

But that would be unproductive and there will be time to feed the fireants later, for now, give....
....and read this story.
If they don't give that kid a medal "they" are fools.
If "they" charge him with looting it will officially be time for tar, feathers and fire ants.

And scrolling the site above I found more of the little reported but desperately needed good news here.
