Sandra Day O'Connor, one of the voices of reason in the two recent Supreme Court travesties (on emminent domain and medical marijuana) announced her retirement last week. Tonight rumors are flying that Chief Justice Rhenquist (another voice of reason in both those cases) has also retired!
OTOH, rumors are fluttering about that Justice Stevens (a voice of villainy in the aformentioned cases) is also stepping down soon.
The Lefties who see the SCOTUS as instrumental in preserving their view of the Constitution as a living (and therefore meaningless) document will froth and fight with every dirty trick up their sleeves to prevent the old republic from coming back.
The Dobsonite theocrat asshats have just as big a warchest and goals at least as unpleasant.
The President seems to be pissing off a lot of his erstwhile allies by hinting he's leaning less towards a Scalia type and more toward a Thomas or O'Connor.
This summer is going to be a rough nasty political cockfight......people thought the Election was bad.This will be really ugly I fear. :(
