Decisions.....

A few decisions now loom for Ken:

Should I scrap the trailer?

My hickhotel suffered a broken hot water pipe when I went to DC a few weeks ago. As I work on it the extent of the water damage is proving to be almost comically vast. (Trailers are most susceptible to dampness due to the extensive use of particleboard in their construction). The damage may well be beyond my ability to fix. A contractor will cost a few thousand. Against this expense, my lot rent is about half what I'd pay for even an efficiency. This is not a great advantage however if I'm gone in a few years.....or months.
The question becomes then:

Should I even stay in the area?

With ODU dropping 2/3 of my credits I no longer am nearly as fixed to that University. I have HAZWHOPPER skills as well as an Marine Science Technician rating in the USCGR. Poking about, there are jobs in places I want to move eventually for environmental technicians. I am qualified for quite a few of them but I'm unsure of weather I'd ever finish my degree. There is also the option of going to Iraq as a HAZWHOPPER responder for an oil company, making ridiculous sums of money and then coming back....I'd certainly be able to drill with US military forces there. ;)

Note that such choices represent very real opportunity one way or the other, so despite the considerable setbacks and aggravation of dealing with my wrecked home the options open to me are rather more diverse than many relatives and acquaintances would condescend to suppose.....

NOT THAT I'M BITTER. :)

Heh...with the grades at least the big mid term goal is coming along nicely. For someone who was briefly homeless 11 yeas ago, these are peeeuny obstacles.

....But if anyone knows a lot about replacing Mobile Home floors please leave a comment. ;)
