Coast Guard Cutter Acushnet now Oldest in Fleet

The 63 year old USCGC Acushnet, a veteran of WW2 will become the oldest Coast Guard cutter afloat when the venerable and storied cutter Storis decommissions on the 8th of February.

The vessel is the last of her class and was originally a navy salvage ship, a design stood her in good stead as a rescue , salvage and oceanographic cutter in Coast Guard service.

The Acushnet is on Alaska Station.
