As noted earlier the left knee has been giving me a bit of trouble lately.
Well, yesterday I got a sports medicine doctor to look at it as the surgeon is unable to fit me in 'till Monday.
The preliminary diagnosis is torn PCL ligament. Since I was laid up to varying degrees for a year and a half with complications from my ACL surgery, this was, to put it mildly unpleasant news.
I should get confirmation on Monday.
The injury was likely caused at the same time as the ACL tear when I had the training accident in the Coast Guard. Accordibg to the doctor it is not entirely uncommon for the PCL ligament to be damaged at the same time and slowly unravel.
The implications of this are bad....
I'll be out of work for 6-9 months or more.
I won't be able to drill with the Coast Guard during that time due to regulations.
I could loose all my tuition assistance.
I will need to go through surgery and physical therapy again.
%&*@#!
Sucksucksucksucksucksuck......
On the other hand, I can expect a full recovery. The complications from this last surgery now seen to have been caused by this slowly unraveling PCL ligament as well as the screw disolvig issue. Thus In a year, I'll be back to by 2003 self....but with fewer friends better grades and less hair.
Bad in the short term, good in the long.
Given the injuries other reservists have suffered, this is simply a minor speedbump.
