SpaceDev a small aereospace company that was instrumental in the flight of Spaceship 1, has recently completed a study for NASA that defines a 6 passenger vehicle to reach low earth orbit.
I'm sceptical of both the performance of SpaceDevs rubber&laughing gas engine as well as their ability to do an end run around the big aerospace dinosaurs. Nevertheless, the fact that an innovative dynamic little company like them is getting NASA work is really encouraging. Fingers are crossed.
